Performance Engines

A performance engine is an engine that has been tuned to maximum specifications for maximum output of energy per combustion within the engine block.  There are many ways to performance remanufacture an engine.

Increasing the diameter or “boring” out the cylinders and or Pistons is one way of increasing the amount of fuel and compression within an engine.  This can result in a larger amount of fuel in the combustion chamber resulting in more power.

You can also increase the valve opening height, increasing the lift, by changing the arrangement of the lift or camshaft.  You can improve the burning efficiency by fine-tuning the valve timing increasing burning efficiency.  This may increase the power at specific RPMs while decreasing power in other RPMs.

Muffler and exhaust manifold's can help increase engine power and performance by increasing the manifold diameter and using a low backpressure muffler, this may increase the noise level of the engine, but this may also be a desired sound or effect of a performance orientated vehicle.
