Head Gasket Problems
In between the engine block and the cylinder head (top end) sits a gasket known as the head gasket. Used to seal the engine to guarantee maximum compression and avoid leakage of fluids into the cylinders.
With the high compression rate of today's cylinders, the head gasket has become one of the most important aspects of an engine. If a head gasket is blown or leaks, compression loss can occur, exhaust gases can be forced into the cooling system, oil can mix with the coolant, coolant can leak into the cylinders, and continual driving with a blown head gasket can cause extensive damage to the cylinder head as well as the engine block and related components.
Should you notice excessive steam coming out of your tailpipe, loss of power, engine overheating, motor oil in your radiator, your engine seizes, you have carbon monoxide in the expansion tank of the cooling system, or white foamy oil in your engine compartment, all can indicate head gasket failure. Continual driving with a blown head gasket is sure to damage your engine resulting in a complete engine rebuild.
Rebuilt engines store uses FelPro gaskets but we’re happy to use another if you prefer then pressure checks all cylinder heads and bench tests every engine to be sure that it is sealed and performing beyond manufacturer specifications. Each engine is treated as an individual and all tolerances are exact to the particular engine block. Because of our specialized craftsman who build and rebuild an engine to be better than new, we offer a full 10-year/100,000 mile warranty on all rebuilt long blocks.
